Introduction
Mulungu is a South American herb found in the Caatinga ecoregions in Brazil, traditionally used as a fish poison, sedative, for insomnia, and to reduce blood pressure. Mulungu is claimed to be one of the strongest herbal sedatives available, even claimed by some to outperform kava.

Mulungu can be boiled in water to make a tea or the powder taken straight with water. Recommended dose is 2-4 teaspoons.

Mulungu is famous for its effects on inflammation, muscle relaxation, pain relief, and anxiety. It has been used as both a medicinal and a tonic by indigenous tribes in the Amazon rainforests, and its traditional history matches its modern use. Mulungu's pharmacology suggests that it works through both the nicotinic acetylcholine and the GABAnergic systems.
